Job summary
Job Purpose
The post holder will plan and provide high standard Physiotherapy assessment and treatment interventions to older adults with mental health needs, including dementia and functional diagnosis', within specified inpatient and/or community settings. The post holder will use evidence based and client centred practice to assess, plan, implement and evaluateone to one and group based interventions within the setting. The role will support leadership, provide clinical supervision to junior staff and undertake a practice placement educator role. The post holder will be expected to allocate work to Physiotherapy Assistants and provideongoing support on a daily basis, as well as supervision and appraisal.To work across the Black Country area within the Physiotherapy teams to cover and support in times of high clinical demand. The areas covered include Sandwell, Dudley, Walsall and Wolverhampton. The post holder will be required to work primarily within Dudley and Walsall locality but may be asked to support the existing Physiotherapy service for older adults if theneed arises.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To perform highly developed Physiotherapy assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and physiological conditions, to support the provision and identification of diagnosis. This can also include working age adults with dementia and/or high frailty.
- To develop and deliver individualised treatment programs in partnership with the client and/or their family/carer and utilising evidence based practice and treatments.
- To hold responsibility of independent and team caseloads within Older Adult Urgent Care with autonomy and limited direct supervision. To be an integrated member of the multi-professional mental health team and support the provision of and access to physical and mental health and/or other services.
- To support the leadership of a needs led service developing and delivering evidenced based and outcome focussed therapeutic interventions in response to service user need.
- To contribute to meeting Professional, Service and Trust wide and National standards.
- To undertake any other duties of a similar nature consistent with the responsibilities of this post in order to provide a quality Physiotherapy service.
- Support, supervise and guide members of the Physiotherapy team in order to provide a quality and inclusive service on the inpatient wards. This will also include contribution and facilitation of staff and service development. To escalate to professional/operational leads as and when necessary.
