Are you an experienced mental health practitioner with a core profession looking for an opportunity to develop and progress your clinical skills to a Band 7 position and have an interest in working with people with enduring mental health difficulties?
As part of the Psychological Therapies for Severe Mental Health Problems upskilling framework being funded by Health Education England we are seeking to recruit two trainee Dialectical Behavioural Therapists. This is an exciting developmental post where the successful candidates will be enrolled on a fully funded two year Post Graduate Diploma provided by the University of Bangor in Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. On successful completion of the course and following the necessary HR and recruitment processes they will eligible for a Band 7 position. Main duties of the job
Alongside studying the post holders will specialise in providing therapeutic interventions to people with difficulties in emotional dysregulation who have often experienced developmental trauma and may have a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. The successful post holders will each join one of the four localities across the Black Country, including; Wolverhampton/Sandwell and Dudley/Walsall. This intensive training post will equip the post-holder to join the locality based DBT service and to provide a DBT service to clients with a range of complex problems for which DBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective. They will also support the existing services with DBT informed interventions and service development. The post- holder will work in the service for 4 days of the week using the newly developed skills whilst attending the training programme for the other day.

About us
You will need to be meeting the requirements of the Post Graduate Diploma alongside the demands of delivering high standards of care to clients with difficulties in regulating their emotions. You will be joining existing services and will receive clinical supervision whilst you undertake the training programme. In your role you will be supported in facilitating assessments, planning and delivering DBT informed interventions, whilst also assessing and responding to risk appropriately.
Within the DBT services you will be facilitating each of the four modalities; including delivering the skills groups, 1:1 therapy sessions, providing telephone coaching and attending the weekly consultation meetings. There may also be opportunities to support loved ones and contribute to the co produced "DBT Graduates Group" for clients who have progressed through DBT. You will further support the implementation and evaluation of other DBT informed interventions and service development in particular as we go through a transformation of mental health services.
