Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity to join the Staff Support Service as a Senior Counsellor

The Staff Support Service are a talking therapies service available to all staff employed by Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT).

We provide confidential short term, goal orientated integrative therapy tailored to the needs of the staff member (personal or work related difficulties). Session can be either face to face or remote over the telephone or MS teams. Sessions are delivered Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm.

All Senior Counsellors will be Accredited members of the British Association for Counselling Professions (BACP), or evidence of Accreditation Submission and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework. Counselling staff will need to be able to provide flexible, multimodal, and culturally sensitive support to the workforce.

The work undertaken in the service will be in line with the trusts local people and wellbeing strategy and national NHS people plan.

Main duties of the job

To provide full clinical assessments of staff accessing the Staff Support Service, including full risk assessments and outcome measures. To be able to make decisions on clinical appropriateness of referrals and direct staff to most appropriate intervention or support internally or externally to the service.

To provide short term/brief face (average 8 sessions) to face and remote talking therapies to staff across the BCHFT workforce, tailoring your approach to the needs of the staff member.

To use outcome measures (PHQ9, GAD7) to measure staff progress.

To be able to monitor and assess risk and manage effectively and safelyprioritising staff wellbeing and safety at all time.

To adhere to the British Association for Counselling Professions (BACP) Ethical Framework.

To work collaboratively with other staff wellbeing providers such as Health and Wellbeing Lead, Organisational Development, Occupational Health (PAM Group) and Employee Assistance Programme (EAP - Vivup) to promote staff wellbeing across the trust.

To co-organise and develop materials for / and deliver promotional and training events related to staff support services at sites within BCHFT as agreed with the Service Manager.
