Job summary

Please be aware that when applying for this post there is an expectation that the post-holder will also independently apply for the October 2023 Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapy High Intensity Post Graduate Diploma with Birmingham University. The university selection process will run independently of Wolverhampton Talking Therapies selection process, and a candidate must be successful at both to be offered a position.

Successful candidates should:

Have a BABCP recognised core profession qualification and have been practising in that role for at least a year post completing the training. You would need to provide qualification and registration documents as proof at the interview. The Core Professions list is available here.

Applicants without a core profession (such as Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP)* or Counsellors without UKCP or BACP accreditation) must be able to demonstrate they have met the KSA criteria by completion of a KSA portfolio prior to interview. If you are currently working as a PWP, at least 2 years of post-qualification experience is an essential requirement.

Main duties of the job

Wolverhampton Talking Therapies offers intervention for Depression and all anxiety disorders. As a service we consistently excel with above average moving to recovery rates, positive client feedback and exceptionally high job satisfaction from our team.

With the team having changed management in the last 2 years, a number of positive improvements have been introduced including blended (office and remote) working opportunities, the championing of specialist areas and a strong emphasis on funded CPD.

In this role the post holder will be required to attend 2 days of teaching with University of Birmingham, and provide 3 days of clinical practice per week offering assessment and High Intensity Treatment to patients presenting with common mental health problems including Depression and all anxiety disorders. The post holder will receive appropriate support and supervision throughout their training journey.

Similarly, the clinical placement is expected to take place via a combination of in-person and remote working.
