Job summary
To provide a comprehensive administrative and secretarial service to the Diabetes MDT. Working especially closely with the Diabetes Administrator to support all aspects of their role
To provide secretarial/admin support to the Diabetes Nurse Team and Consultants to help facilitate an efficient service. Being the first port of call for all admin queries from the Diabetes nursing team.
Main duties of the job
Assist in the oversight of all outpatient activity, booking appointments when required and sending out appointment letters and setting up referrals. Cashing up clinics and maintaining waiting lists when required
Patient episodes are organised effectively and efficiently so that the patients are seen without clinical risk and within NHS guidelines and targets.
Actions resulting from each patient episode are planned and followed up within agreed timescales.
Completed investigations are available to each consultant and the appropriate healthcare team, when required.
Patient admission episodes are planned and organised effectively and efficiently, in accordance with Consultant requirements and Trust policies.
The Trust is able to accurately review and report compliance with relevant NHS guidelines and targets with regard to waiting times and patient activity.
Deal efficiently with all patient enquires by phone, letter, email or face to face whilst exercising initiative and tact with regard to action necessary. Ensure that all messages are relayed as quickly as possible and any urgent correspondence escalated to the most appropriate multi-disciplinary team (MDT) member
