Job summary

Applications are invited for this Medical Secretary role within the Paediatric Surgery and Urology Team, supporting 14 Consultant Surgeons, 15 Tier 2 clinicians, 3 Clinical Nurses Specialist teams and 3 Physician Associates.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative and secretarial duties, which include the receipt of all correspondence, booking of patient medical appointments, attendance at designated meetings, recording accurate notes, checking clinical letters, reports and other correspondence as required by the Consultants and their medical team.

To act as a focal point of contact and be responsible for the dissemination of information, messages and enquires for the medical team, liaising with multidisciplinary team members, other health professionals and staff within the Trust, GP's, Social Workers, Service Users, Carers and any other appropriate external agencies. You will also help cover when other secretaries within the service are on annual leave.

  • GCSEs at grades A-C or equivalent
  • AMSPAR Diploma or equivalent qualifications or minimum of 2 year Med Sec experience
  • Level 2 RSA/OCR word processing/typing qualification/equivalent experience

Knowledge & Nature of Experience

  • Audio typing experience
  • Good telephone manner
  • Experience of working under pressure

Desirable

  • Medical Secretarial experience
