Job summary

Band 3 Supply Chain Assistant - PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit) We are seeking a motivated and organised Band 3 Supply Chain Assistant to join our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting frontline clinical services by ensuring the timely provision and effective management of essential supplies and equipment. Working as part of the Supply Chain and Critical Care teams, you will deliver a fully managed materials management service for both stock and non-stock products, helping to ensure uninterrupted patient care within a fast-paced and high-acuity environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Receive, unload and safely store all PICU medical, surgical, pharmacy stock items, and equipment from stores, in the appropriate areas ensuring that stock is rotated, in date and that packaging is safely disposed.
  • Assist with maintaining the cleanliness of all areas of PICU especially storage areas and including stock rotation.
  • To ensure that clinical storage areas are stocked appropriately and regularly topped up, making sure that there is sufficient stock at the weekends.
  • To assist in the monitoring, purchasing, tracking of orders, receipt and distribution of all medical and surgical items for PICU. To raise non-stock requisitions to suppliers.
  • Monitor stock levels and generate stock orders daily, to replenish items used by PICU staff, via electronic data capture in accordance with published schedules.
  • To maintain a system of ordering/stock control that can be undertaken by other person in post holder's absence.
  • To assist the PICU Procurement Manager to identify and remove product recalls from the stores area and to re-order suitable alternatives in accordance with NHS guidelines. To order and deal with the delivery of urgent orders to ensure continuity of service.
