The Children's Epilepsy Surgery Service (CESS) Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and smooth running of the CESS pathway for children referred to Birmingham Children's Hospital.
This role supports the multidisciplinary epilepsy surgery team by coordinating referrals, investigations, outpatient appointments, admissions, and multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.
The post holder will act as a key point of contact for families, referring professionals, and internal departments, ensuring that every stage of the epilepsy surgery pathway -- from referral to discharge -- is delivered efficiently and compassionately.
Close liaison with the Epilepsy Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultants, Neurosurgery, and other internal and external stakeholders will be central to the role.
Main duties of the job
The Co-ordinator for the Children's Epilepsy Surgery Service (CESS) will be responsible for the co-ordination from enrolment to discharge of patients on the CESS programme as part of a team of Epilepsy Service.
This would involve the co-ordination of admissions, outpatient appointments, investigations, and multidisciplinary meetings. Liaison with medical staff, other departments and other hospitals is essential. The post holder will be one of the main points of contact for referring professionals and families. Data input on the local CESS tracker system and updating the information is essential for data outcomes. The post holder will work very closely with the lead epilepsy surgery clinicians and nurses when co-ordinating and liaising with professionals and families
As a Service Coordinator you should have excellent written and verbal communication; strong administrative and organizational skills, diary management, and minute taking. You should be able to demonstrate that you are a team player but can work independently with minimal supervision. High proficiency in MS Excel is necessary in this role.
