Job summary
This is a coordinator and administrative role helping to facilitate the successful running of the Alstrom, Setmelanotide, Wolfram and BBS MDT clinics. The post holder is involved in all aspects of the service from referral to eventual transition and everything in between. The majority of the role will be organising clinics and liaising with the appropriate charities and clinicians.
Main duties of the job
- Oversee all outpatient activity, booking appointments when required and sending out appointment letters and setting up referrals.
- Cashing up clinics and maintaining waiting lists as and when required.
- To liaise with corresponding charities and wider MDT to ensure clinics are well attended and have the appropriate clinicians and patients. And to ensure that any relevant patient information is sent and/or received in time for clinic as and when requested by the former.
- To ensure the Consultants, nurses and the wider MDT are organised effectively and efficiently so that they are able to operate all their clinical and non-clinical commitments.
- The Trust is able to accurately review and report compliance with relevant NHS guidelines and targets with regard to waiting times and patient activity.
- Deal efficiently with all patient enquires by phone, letter, email or face to face whilst exercising initiative and tact with regard to action necessary. Ensure that all messages are relayed as quickly as possible and any urgent correspondence escalated to the most appropriate multi-disciplinary team (MDT) member.
- To put together, alongside the Consultants, the list of clinic dates for the year and plan pre and post clinic meetings for each of these and ensure that these are distributed to the MDT in a timely manner ensuring that they can plan their year around these dates.
