Job summary

This is a full-time post within the Birmingham Women's Fertility Centre.

We aim to support all donors and patients that access our services from initial referral to the hospital, throughout their treatment until their family is complete. The post is based within our Labs structure within the Embryology service but will work across the team.

We are a large multi-disciplinary team and the role will involve working across disciplines. The post will be predominantly laboratory Embryology, but will also involve participating in other aspects of how we deliver our Ambitious, Brave and Compassionate service.

Any successful candidate would need to be enthusiastic about joining our service in particular and be a team player.

Essential

  • BSc in Biological / Biomedical Science
  • ACE Certificate/STP in Clinical Embryology/Equivalent training and experience
  • HCPC registration

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • 3 years clinical embryology laboratory experience
  • Sound understanding of, and ability in Clinical Embryology
  • ICSI Practitioner
  • Experience of computerised laboratory systems
  • Good communication skills
  • Willing and able to undertake additional training as required
  • Able to demonstrate sensitive and empathetic approach to patients in treatment
  • Knowledge of The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority
  • Embryo Biopsy Practitioner

Desirable

  • Experience of supervising junior staff
  • Experience of direct communication with patients
  • Experience of using an electronic patient record / Patient Administration / IT systems in Healthcare
