Job summary

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is proud to be the Lead Provider of the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC) also known as TOUCAN.

We are the integrated commissioners of provision for specialist mental health, learning disability and autism services, for young people aged 12-18.

We are recruiting to a substantive full-time position of Case Manager who will join our Clinical Commissioning Hub's team of case managers. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated, clinically and operationally skilled staff member. We are seeking an individual who relishes the challenge of working with patients and building on strong relationships across our provider collaborative. The post holder will work directly with a designated caseload of patients in a range of different inpatient settings. You will additionally support the wider team to monitor quality, safeguarding and commissioning intelligence to improve outcomes for the entire patient population.

The successful candidate will need to have experience of working within complex systems We are particularly eager to hear from those candidates who have clinical experience of working within specialist inpatient pathways with and those young people who have learning disabilities and/or autism, and experience of chairing C(e)TR's.

Main duties of the job

Case management is a recognised national role within the NHS and a national network of peers is well established who work cooperatively to ensure that the admission to a Tier 4 bed is appropriate, timely and focused on appropriate discharge. Possession of a relevant professional qualification is essential, as well as knowledge of wider mental health services and ICS systems. Direct experience of working in specialised secure care mental health, forensic services or eating disorders is desirable. We are looking for someone who has significant experience in working with learning disability & autism.

In addition, an understanding and experience of dealing with quality and clinical governance systems is required, as well as a proven track record of having excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.

Full induction, training and opportunities for continuous professional development will be provided.Whilst there will be an element of home working, travel within the West Midlands and beyond will be expected for this post

  • Registered Mental Health/Learning Disability Nurse
  • Possess a relevant additional professional qualification, NMP, Degree, masters or equivalent level of experience of working at case management level in specialist area.

Knowledge & Nature of Experience

Essential

  • Detailed knowledge of legal issues pertaining to the specialist service, including MHA 1983, after care under supervision, sex offender legislation, probation orders and life license, Ministry of Justice procedures and child protection legislation
  • Detailed Clinical knowledge of LDA
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent
  • Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
