An exciting opportunity has become available at Birmingham Children's Hospital for an enthusiastic and motivated ClinicalTeaching Fellow who has completed at least their foundation training and has prior experience in paediatrics.
This 19 month post offers a unique chance to develop the skills and confidence needed to become an effective medical educator while further enhancing your experience in paediatrics.
Working closely with the Undergraduate Medical Education Team, you will contribute to delivering a high-quality educational experience for medical students and physician associate students from both The University of Birmingham and Aston University. Please note that this role does not include clinical duties.
Although the post is not recognised for formal training, applicants may apply for an Out of Programme Experience (OOPE) with their Specialty School. The educational expertise and teaching experience gained through this position will support future career development, including applications for GRID and SPIN programmes.
This role is ideal for doctors with paediatric experience who have completed a minimum of foundation training.
The successful candidate will receive training in simulation-based education, and there may be an opportunity to undertake a funded PGCert in Medical Education, subject to identification as a developmental need through appraisal or ARCP.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will join a team of dedicated clinical teachers and tutors to support thedesign, delivery, and assessment of paediatric and child health undergraduate education at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
You will:

Deliver engaging teaching sessions to medical and physician associate students from the University of Birmingham and Aston University.

Contribute to curriculum development, clinical skills teaching, and simulation-based education.

Support the organisation of undergraduate assessments and participate in educational meetings.

Undertake a project in paediatric medical education to enhance your teaching portfolio.

Work collaboratively with the Undergraduate Medical Education Team to maintain high standards of teaching and educational quality.
This is a non-clinical role, offering excellent opportunities to develop as a medical educator while gaining valuable experience in paediatric education.
