Job summary
We are excited to offer the opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated Assistant Speech and Language Therapy Practitioner to work full-time within our SLT team at Parkview Clinic in Birmingham for a fixed term12-month period. Parkview Clinic is an inpatient mental health facility for young people aged 11-18 years with significant psychiatric difficulties.
Although our service is not specifically for autistic young people, a high number of young people admitted are autistic. As a service we have through the National Autistic Society, achieved Specialist Autism Accreditation Status. This means, we are extremely committed to providing high quality, person-centered care tailored to this vulnerable cohort of patients and that we aim to ensure that our interactions, environment, policies and procedures are autism affirming and autism informed. The successful applicant will take a key role in supporting practice, projects and developments with this in mind.

Main duties of the job
The Assistant SLT practitioner will: -
- Work as part of the Inpatient Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Team, alongside other therapists and members of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to support and provide a specialist SLT service to, young people with significant, complex mental health difficulties and underlying social communication and language needsincluding autism.
- Manage, under the supervision of registered SLTs, an independent caseload of patients, reporting on progress, identifying and escalating any concerns and adjusting plans accordingly, within agreed protocols.
- Actively support the service at Parkview Clinic to further develop and embed their processes and procedures in line with their Specialist Autism Accreditation Status.
- Carryout non-clinical duties including housekeeping, health and safety, clerical and support tasks.
