We are seeking a motivated paediatric endocrinology & diabetes specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at Birmingham Children's Hospital. Our progressive, forward-thinking team is highly research active, providing tertiary endocrine care alongside five specialised funded services & leading over ten national & international clinical studies. We maintain close partnerships with specialised adult endocrine, bone, & diabetes services in Birmingham.
The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide inpatient & outpatient care for children with endocrine, diabetes, and metabolic bone conditions, including specialised NHSE services in OI, rare diabetes, and other endocrinology subspecialties.

Main duties of the job
The primary objective of this post is to support the delivery of comprehensive care for children with endocrine, diabetes & metabolic bone disease conditions including the delivery of the highly specialised NHSE funded services in OI and rare diabetes services across both inpatient & outpatient settings.The post holder will support delivery of nationally funded rare diabetes service, initially managing patients with conditions such as Alstrm syndrome and Bardet-Biedl syndrome. They will be involved in engaging with specialty endocrine & transition clinics alongside other members team. The successful candidate will share in the provision of outpatient clinics, inpatient advice, on-call duties for endocrinology & diabetes & providing regional & supra-regional expertise.
Applicants should have tertiary level training in paediatric endocrinology, diabetes & metabolic bone disease, with broad expertise in general endocrine management. Proven experience in diabetes care, including insulin pump therapy, hybrid closed-loop systems, advanced glucose monitoring, & patient education, is essential. Additional training and experience in working within a multidisciplinary team to manage metabolic bone disease, rare diabetes, associated complications & specialist endocrine clinics would be highly beneficial.
