Support and guidance to SAS Doctors (Associate Specialists, Staff Grades and Specialty Doctors) in the Trust, in collaboration with their Lead Clinicians, Postgraduate Clinical Tutors and the Director of Medical Education (DME)
Leadership in both the professional development of SAS doctors and the contribution of SAS doctors to education and training of trainees in relevant specialties.
Main duties of the job
The SAS Tutor will provide:
Support and guidance to Associate Specialist, Staff Grade and Specialty Doctors (SAS) in the Trust, in collaboration with their Lead Clinicians and the Postgraduate ClinicalTutors.
Leadership in both the professional development of SAS Doctors and the contribution of SAS doctors to education and training in relevantspecialties.
Organisation of internal and external developmental programmes to improve and support the developmental needs of SAS Doctors
Support for the SAS doctors in difficulty in line with PSU guidance.

Essential
- GMC Full Registration including recognised clinical & educational supervisor
- SAS Doctor or dentist or a consultant with a minimum of 5PA clinical contract
- Breadth of experience in appraisal and medical education
- Knowledge of assessment methods
- Evidence of understanding of management of change
- Experience of teaching and training, including medical trainees, students of all healthcare disciplines and allied health professionals
- Positive attitude towards multi-professional working
- Excellent oral, aural and written communication skills
- Evidence of supporting junior staff and colleagues
Desirable
- Experience in leadership or management within a formal role or as part of a team in related activity
- Evidence of contribution to service development
- Able to manage change across an organisation/multi-agency setting
- Evidence of teaching abilities - positive feedback and/or teaching observation
- Team or service-based quality improvement work as a project or part of a programme
- Presentations at local, regional and national conferences
- Publications in local, national and international journals and other non-peer reviewed work
