Job summary
The Clinical Teaching Academy (CTA) provides high quality clinical learning for undergraduate medical students and physician associate students from The University of Birmingham Medical School and Aston Medical School.
The purpose of the Senior Academy Tutor (SATu) role is to promote a culture that facilitates the academic and professional clinical education of a small group of students, whilst also supporting student well-being.
Main duties of the job
To support the Head of Academy and Deputy Head of Academy in managing Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) within the CTA.
To accommodate medical and physician associate students in your speciality/department.
To provide 1-2 hours of UGME activity per week (dependent on PA job role allocation).
To write formal progress reports as required by the universities.
To contribute to the assessment of undergraduates by completing work-based assessments.
To contribute to the formal university assessments of undergraduates by undertaking University Clinical Examiner training and examining for at least half a day per year.
To regularly meet with students and review their progress, providing individual feedback on their clinical learning in accordance with university requirements.
To discuss with the Head of Academy and/or Deputy Head of Academy any students who are experiencing difficulties and instigate agreed support strategies to assist the student.
To attend two Trust Undergraduate Medical Education Meetings per year.
