Assistant Operations Manager

Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the Birmingham Women's Hospital Radiology Department. The role will specifically support the Operations Manager and Clinical Leads to ensure that quality, activity, and financial targets are met.

Main duties of the job

The role involves working within a team of 120 people comprising Consultant Radiologists, Registrars, Clinical Managers, Sonographers, Radiographers, Operational/Service Managers and Administrators.

There will also be a requirement to work closely with colleagues in Maternity, Neonates and Gynaecology at Birmingham Women's Hospital, and external providers, including in the private sector.

This role provides an opportunity to strengthen existing management and leadership skills to support the development of senior operational management, therefore the duties undertaken may be extended, if appropriate.

  • Good standard of education to A level or equivalent
  • Professional management qualification or able to demonstrate an equivalent level of relevant experience

Knowledge

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years of staff management and leadership experience within an NHS setting
  • Knowledge of national patient access targets including diagnostic waiting times
  • Working knowledge of the full range of current NHS issues

Desirable

  • NHS operational management experience
  • Experience of NHS waiting list management
