Job summary
Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a substantive Obstetric Consultant with a specialist interest in Fetal Medicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and ambitious team at our Birmingham Women's Hospital site which has 7,400 births per year. This is a newly established Consultant post and we are looking for someone who is Ambitious, Brave and Compassionate and with a commitment to continually improve our services, which have just been rated green by the CQC.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of the Obstetric and Fetal medicine service, working closely with colleagues in the direct team and across the fetal medicine network.
The successful persons will be responsible for:
Providing service and responsibility of fetal medicine clinics, pathways and working with the network
Providing lead role for multiple births service
This job will consist of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) per week as an annualised contract. The job plan includes on call duties as part of a 1 in 14 rota. The successful applicant will be based within the fetal medicine teams joining our established team of expert obstetricians with the potential to work alongside the current fetal intervention team in the future and assist development of future innovations in prenatal surgery.
The successful candidate will be expected to be aware of local policies and procedures and to comply with the Standing Orders and Standing Financial Instructions of the Trust. Where the Consultant manages employees of the Trust, they will be expected to observe the local employment and personnel policies and procedures.

Birmingham Women's Hospital merged with the Birmingham Children's Hospital in 2017. The Birmingham Women's Hospital site adjoins the University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust - formerly the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, which is an acute teaching hospital of the West Midlands, and the University of Birmingham and its Medical School.
The Trust offers a complete range of obstetric and gynaecological services. The hospital serves a large multiracial local community, currently delivering around 7,400 women per year and an equivalent gynaecological workload. We are a tertiary centre for perinatal care and are the regional centre for Fetal Medicine, Maternal Medicine and Clinical Genetics. Gynaecology services incorporate the Tommy's miscarriage centre.
