Job summary

The post holder will be pivotal in the designing, implementation and delivery of education and development within all aspects of maternity. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that education and support is up to date with the latest evidence to generate effective learning and professional development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Professional Practice Team who work closely for the development and support of the multi-professional team within maternity. This team comprises of Practice Development, Preceptorship and Professional Midwifery Advocacy services, workingcohesively to support and develop staff, as well as having close working relationships with the wider team such as governance, to generate improvements in services and outcomes for women and their families.

Specific Key Responsibilities:o Review and support current training packages and educationalresources. In partnership with the Professional Practice and Maternity riskand governance Team, Obstetricians, Professional Midwifery Advocates(PMA's), HEIs and local training and education boards/ networks; developcreative ways of learning by building on what currently works well and beinnovative in using opportunities and different methods/ways to improvelearning.o To maintain accurate records on the Trust training database.o Support, develop and deliver safe, effective and outstanding care for women and their families.

  • Evidence of first-degree level study or equivalent
  • All around midwifery experience
  • Evidence of post registration education
  • Completion of an approved programme of study leading to the Professional Midwifery Advocate qualification, at Masters (level 7) level

  • NLS Provider/Instructor status
  • Leadership course (accredited or nationally recognised)
