Job summary

In England, the NHS is 'organising itself around a single definition of quality': care that is effective, safe and provides as positive an experience as possible by being caring, responsive and person-centred. In order to understand how we perform against this definition of quality at BWC we want to ultimately create a clinical outcomes model that is built on the following key principles:

  • Robust clinical outcome measures identified in each specialty
  • Consistent and accurate data collection against these measures
  • Robust analysis of outcomes data
  • Availability of specialties' outcomes on the intranet for greater internal visibility
  • Publication of outcomes to theTrust websitefor public visibilityto empower thewomen, childrenand families we care for.
  • Benchmarking of outcomes, nationally and internationally, with other centres of excellence

We will develop this model in a phased approach. This post/s offers an exciting opportunity to set a proof-of-concept model which will then enable development of business as normal infrastructure to measure clinical outcomes at BWC.

Main duties of the job

The postholder/s will provide leadership to an already established phased programme led by the Chief Medical Officer. Depending on the time that the successful candidate/s are available to offer, there will be either one post with 2PAs or 2 posts with one PA each. This will be initially for a fixed term of 1 year.

The Associate Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Outcomes post job description is as below with a summary of objectives with the personal specification.

Objectives:

  • Phase 1: Set up clinical outcomes' dashboards (board, division and specialty) for specialised commissioned services and pathways where holistic clinical outcomes are available
