Job summary
Applications are invited for a 5-month rotation in Paediatric Surgery and Urology for 2 months and then 3 months in Gastroenterology, within our department at Birmingham Children's Hospital, one of the busiest in the United Kingdom.
The post will be a 2-month position within the department with a further 3 months within the Gastroenterology department and includes on-call cross-cover out of hours of Paediatric Trauma and Orthopaedics, Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery, and Plastic Surgery.
The successful applicant will ideally be keen, enthusiastic and interested in pursuing a career in Paediatric Surgery and Urology in the future.

Main duties of the job
The placement offers exposure to a wide range of Paediatric Thoracic Surgery at tertiary level. Successful Candidates will join the team on the Tier 1 Resident Doctors Group on the Paediatric Surgery and Urology on call rota.
Throughout the programme, it is expected that the trainee will participate fully in all appropriate activities, including peripheral clinics, as agreed with the Programme Director and Postgraduate Dean. Similarly, in rotation with other members in the team, arranging the Departmental Rota will be one of the responsibilities of the post.
Applicants for the post should hold an appropriate medical degree and should have Paediatric Life Support Qualifications (or if not, candidates will be expected to attend an appropriate local course).
