Job summary

To work closely with the Principal investigator/project manager and Research Sister/Quality Improvement lead to set up and co-ordinate Studies in the PICU portfolio. You will take a lead in the co-ordination, delivery and development of the Clinical Research trials/projects on the PICU at BWCH.

You will be responsible for assessing and contributing to the care pathways for patients and carers participating in various trials. This will involve the daily screening, recruitment and monitoring of trial patients, and the collection, documentation, inputting & monitoring of data. You will develop and utilise a working knowledge of and compliance with local, national and international research regulations.

Main duties of the job

  • To ensure the successful start-up and co-ordination of studies/projects, including identifying suitable patients
  • To be able to lead the consent process with families
  • To contribute to the research/quality improvement activity of the PIC Team including the recruitment and monitoring of trial patients; collection, documentation and monitoring of accurate data; working collaboratively with the clinical team and other PIC research nurses to support all PICU clinical trials
