Job summary

An exciting opportunity to work as a Consultant Paediatric Radiologist in the West Midlands. The appointee will primarily work within the Radiology Department of Birmingham Children's Hospital joining an existing establishment of 13 diagnostic consultant paediatric radiologists and 2 consultant paediatric interventional radiologists, and will also undertake work at the University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust as a split site position. This is a substantive full-time 10 PA post.

Proposed Interview Dates.

Carousel Interview: 14 October 2024

AAC Interview: 15 October 2024

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant should be trained in all aspects of diagnostic paediatric radiology and will take part in the paediatric radiology on-call rota. This post has also been developed to provide robustness to the children's epilepsy surgery service (CESS). The applicant therefore must have an interest in paediatric neuroradiology, preferably with prior experience contributing to a paediatric epilepsy MDT. The existing consultants have developed sub-specialty interests, and if the successful applicant has a subspecialty interest within paediatric radiology in addition to neuroradiology the department would try to support this. The successful applicant would be expected to participate in the multi-disciplinary meetings with existing consultant radiologists. The nature of paediatric radiology is such that the successful candidate will need broad experience and will use many modalities in undertaking their roles. Their job plans will reflect this but will also try to accommodate specialist interests, mindful of the existing needs within the department. The successful applicant must be prepared to work flexibly and there will be opportunity to maintain adult diagnostic skills at UHCW.
