Job summary

The Preadmission Department is looking to appoint a full-time Administrative Assistant. To complement our dynamic admin team, you must be enthusiastic, well-organised and have excellent communication skills.

NHS experience is not required for this role, although you must have a passion for delivering excellent patient care to ensure our families have a positive experience. Full training on electronic patient systems will be provided for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job

Working in the Preadmission Department, you will liaise with patients, parents, carers, Healthcare Professionals, Medical Secretaries, Healthcare Records and Patient Access Team to support safe admission of patients attending Birmingham Children's Hospital.

Responsible for handling incoming and outgoing telephone calls for patients, relatives, various Departments across the Trust and also external agencies.

Facilitate the booking, rebooking and cancellation of appointments on behalf of the Preadmission Department in line with priority and waiting time.
