Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a self-motivated and confident individual to join the Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation pharmacy department for a 12 month fixed term contract in High-Cost Drugs and Homecare.
The post holder will work alongside the Senior Pharmacist for High-Cost Drugs and Homecare as an interface between NHS England and the Trust ensuring high cost drugs are used and supplied in the most cost effective way through the development and enforcement of local policies and guidelines. Main duties of the job
To support the monitoring and reporting on high cost drug expenditure.
To help ensure High-Cost medicines are accessible and billing to commissioners is maintained in a timely manner.
To ensure specialist areas have the pharmaceutical support and information necessary to manage High-Cost drugs.
To provide support in the provision and development of pharmaceutical services, including guideline development across clinical areas within the Trust.
To provide training to clinical colleagues to enhance their understanding of high cost drugs.
To audit the supply of immunoglobulins in the Trust.
To support financial reporting and 'End Of Month' processes for the Pharmacy department.
Please note the post-holder may be expected to participate in the extended hours and weekend rotas as required.

- NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services and BTEC (or equivalent)
- Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
- Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Knowledge of data protection and patient/staff confidentiality
- A clear concept of the developing role of the Pharmacy Technician and ability to support the professional development of all technical staff
- Understanding Patient's needs, enabling the delivery of a safe and effective service
