Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Clinical, Counselling or Forensic Psychologist to work in Forward Thinking Birmingham in the East Core CAMHs Team (age 0 to 25); which is one of 4 Core Teams across the city working with Young People presenting with complex needs.
You will join a dynamic, energised team who hold psychology in high regard. The postholder will lead the psychology team within the Blakesley Hub and be a lead within the multidisciplinary team, and provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, intervention and supervision. There will also be project work and service development work to support and strengthening the skills base of non-Psychologist colleagues to enable trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care through reflective practice, consultation and training.
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a candidate who is creative and passionate about integrated multi-disciplinary working. You will have experience of working with Young People presenting with complex needs and the systems around them and will thrive in the challenges of multi-agency working. You will be committed to personal recovery, holistic understanding of need and service development. You will be embedded within the East Core team in in Forward Thinking Birmingham and connected to the psychological therapies and complex care communities in Forward Thinking Birmingham. The latter provides opportunities for professional development and support.

Essential
- Experienced Qualified Clinical/Forensic Psychologist eligible for chartered status
- HCPC registered with Doctorate in Clinical/Forensic Psychology
- Post qualification training leading to highly developed specialist knowledge of issues relevant to core and specialist clinical populations e.g DBT, SCM, ADOS, CBT, ADI-R, and organisational change
- Significant experience of providing clinical supervision and consultation, with psychologists and other professional groups.
- Well-motivated to work creatively and innovatively in an integrated manner with partner organisations to support the recovery and psychological wellbeing of this client group.
- Highly specialist skills in meeting the needs of children, adolescents and young adults with highly complex mental health needs.
- Highly developed knowledge across relevant clinical areas e.g. working with personality difficulties and complex risk of harms, complex neurodiverse presentations co-occurring with mental health difficulties.
- Experience of contributing to planning and evaluation of services and innovation and improvement
- Experience of representing psychology within the context of multi-disciplinary care.
