Job summary
An exciting opportunity is being advertised for a fixed two year training contract as a Orthopaedic Technician Apprentice, working as part of a multidisciplinary team alongside our qualified Orthopaedic Technicians in the fracture clinic, wards and theatres at Birmingham children's Hospital, helping to deliver essential services to children who have injuries and fractures,
Upon successful completion of the British Casting Certificate and the relevant competencies expected of the role you would then commence on a substantive B5 contract as a registered Practitioner,
Main duties of the job
In partnership with external training provider, all apprentices will be required to attend classroom study and will be required to develop a portfolio of evidence that demonstrates they have both the educational knowledge and practical skills required to be an Orthopaedic technician whilst working towards completion of an Apprenticeship in Plaster Technician, that incorporates the British Casting Certificate.

- Math's and English Language GCSE A-C/9-4 or level 2 functional skills/key skills in numeracy and literacy
- Completion of the British Casting Certificate (BCC) within 24 months of commencement of employment
Knowledge and nature of experience

- Able to work well in a team, work reliably and safely under indirect supervision

- Previous experience working with children, young people or adults and understand care and compassion
