Band 6 to work in our brand new Centralised Assessment Team supporting the Referral Management Centre

The post holder will be employed by Birmingham Womens and Childrens NHS Foundation Trust and working within the Mental Health Service Forward Thinking Birmingham. Established in 2016, Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB) is a ground-breaking partnership which revolutionises mental health services for 0-25 year olds.

Bringing together the expertise and commitment of Birmingham Womens and Childrens NHS Foundation Trust (BWC), the Priory Group, Beacon UK and The Childrens Society, FTB offers a wide range of mental health support options tailored to the needs of the young people, young adults and families it cares for and supports.

Through the Referral Management Centre , GPs, schools, local authorities, children, young people, young adults and families across our city, will be able to access mental health services , ranging from flexible community and home-based support to in-patient and urgent care services.

Main duties of the job

A key role within Forward Thinking Birmingham, we require Mental Health Nurses , and Primary Mental Health Workers to work within our Referral Management Centre and play a key role in offering high quality core mental health assessments .

You will be responsible, as part of the Clinical Mental Health Team within the Referral Management Centre which is currently operational from Monday-Friday 9-5, (however may be operational from 8am-8pm on weekdays depending on service need), for the assessment s and the transfer of these cases to the core teams. The post holder will support and facilitate referral flow within the service for allotted appointments and provide clinical advice. You will be a support for the point of contact for initial clinical queries, providing appropriate advice and guidance, and navigating the referrer/caller to the right care pathway or service (within or outside of FTB) in a timely and efficient manner with the aid of the 0-25 Service Directory and robust clinical processes and models in order to ensure the Referral Management Centre operates a streamlined and effective service.

You will be required to manage queries and referrals that have been escalated due to complexity and/or risk by other clinicians. You will partake in an agreed training programme in order to offer consistency within the service in relation to the development of clinical triage within the Referral Management Centre service
