Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust - Lead for Forward Thinking Birmingham ('FTB') is seeking to appoint a Band 7 Project Manager for the Mental Health Mission Midlands Translational Research Centre of Excellence (MTCoE) on a one year fixed term contract.

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Mental Health Mission funding specifically includes the MTCoE delivered by the University of Birmingham Institute for Mental Health, FTB, Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust and other partners. The centre aims to use cutting edge experimental medicine and biomarker discovery studies to accelerate new treatments for patients living with mental illness, develop from robust research infrastructure. Thecentre will increase capacity in mental health research through providing relevant training and creating better systems to support industry led research and investment across the UK. Specific focus will be paid to addressing areas of unmet need and high burden of mental illness.

We are seeking to appointa Project Manager to support delivery of MTCoE in FTB.

You will have a degree or equivalent level of relevant management experience, Prince2 or other recognized project management qualification and a post grad qualification would be desirable. You should evidence good leadership skills, knowledge of project management tools such as Aspyre; Excell and MatLab and be experienced in risk management and governance issues.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to manage a defined range of projects across the centre generating project charters, detailed plans, risks, ethical approvals as appropriate.This role will take the lead on several workstreams within the programme these will include co-ordination of early psychosis data platform implementation and research training as key objectives.

Supervision will be provided by the Research and Clinical Services Leads. You will be working closely with members of the MTCoE Management and Leadership Team. You will also be required to work with colleagues across a range of NHS providers in the Birmingham and Solihull system, including: University of Birmingham; University of Manchester; Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre and University Hospitals Birmingham Clinical Research Facilities.

There will be a frequent requirement to travel extensively across the wide footprint of the Trust. Forward Thinking Birmingham have multiple community bases across Birmingham.
