We are recruiting a new team to work on our exciting new Electronic Patient Record (EPR) programme.

Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust is bringing in a new Electronic Patient Record. This is major transformation programme that will affect almost all Trust employees, supporting them to provide better quality care for our patients and families.

We are currently recruiting for a Server Operations Officers (Band 6) for Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital.

Successful candidates will be joining a team that is supporting the technical implementation of the EPR project. The candidates will be experienced in a number of technical specialties including but not exclusive to the technologies listed in the person specification.

The EPR will be a big change for all our patient-facing teams, so we are looking for people with the energy, passion and resilience to manage the complexities and high risks involved to help us deliver this critical programme of work.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

To ensure server operations are maintained and updated.

To provide advice and technical support to staff to enable the provision of services using ICT

  • To ensure the smooth running and maintenance of the Trust's corporate servers.
  • To ensure all applications on servers are installed correctly and regularly maintained.
  • Support other ICT third line duties as directed by the ICT Infrastructure Manager
  • To direct users on the use of ICT empowering skills and knowledge.
  • To maintain and update personal skills and knowledge to benefit the Trust.
  • To promote the correct use of ICT policies
  • Participate in the ICT Server Operations On Call service

Essential

  • MCITP in windows 2019 server technologies or equivalent experience.
  • Sound educational background to GCSE level or equivalent.
  • Evidence of continuous development.
  • Experience supporting server technologies in a medium to large corporate environment for a minimum of three years.

Desirable

  • Professional IT qualifications
  • PRINCE2 Foundation or ITIL V3.0 Foundation
  • Microsoft MCSE

  • Set up servers both Physical and Virtual in a VMware environment.
  • Plan, Implement and maintain Windows based servers within an Active Directory environment.
  • Understanding/appreciation of Data Protection Act and GDPR
  • Minimum three years' experience of support in Windows 2016/19 Server Technologies in medium to large corporate environment
  • Experience supporting SQL 2016/19/22, VMWare 7, Cisco Catalyst and SIP based telephony, Aruba Technologies and enterprise backup solutions.

Desirable

  • Aptitude for investigating, analysing and solving complex problems
  • Ability to act on own initiative and take and implement decisions to resolve problems
  • to manage own workload and assess, prioritise, and organise work under pressure to manage conflicting deadlines and to manage the workload of others as required
