Job summary

Paediatric Senior Sister/Charge nurse Band 7 - We are looking for a motivated experienced Paediatric Intensive Care (PIC) nurse leader to join our team. A full commitment to staff development and supporting others is a requirement, as well as being an excellent leader. As a Senior Sister/charge nurse you will be a valued integral part of the team within the PICU.

Main duties of the job

  • Be the shift operational manager on peadiatric intensive care, working with the extended operational management team and medical team.
  • Manage capacity across Paediatric Intensive CareEffectively capture any delays/cancellations in treatments/referrals/transfers and advise/update the extended operational management on clinical and operational issues.
  • .Lead management of patient flow.To provide effective leadership, direction and support to a team of registered/non-registered workforce.
  • Deploy, supervise and co-ordinate nursing staff within each span of duty, taking into account skill mix, patient dependency, service demands and education needs.
  • Initiate and take responsibility for the reporting of critical incidents and complaints, ensuring that the process is communicated appropriately.
  • Monitor sickness absence levels in the Support Group in communication with the PICU sickness procedures and the sickness absence policy.Effectively manage the Performance Management process within the Support Group and ensure that all staff have individual personal development plans through appraisal
