Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Registered Nurse to join the Retinoblastoma Team within the Ophthalmology (Eye) Department. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing general surgical / basic oncology nursing care and support to children / families affected by retinoblastoma (RB) and other rare ocular oncology conditions as part of a nursing team, in order to support their care with shared care centers nationally as part of a holistic care pathway. This role will involve care within an outpatients, inpatient and surgical / oncology setting.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based in the eye department within the Retinoblastoma team.
They will work with the:
- Lead nurse for Retinoblastoma, retinoblastoma nurse specialists, Lead Retinoblastoma ophthalmology and oncology Clinicians, Retinoblastoma Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT),
- Consultant Specialist Nurse on genetic team , Eye dept clinical & admin teams, medical and surgical nursing teams on wards/outpatient teams
- Community based health professionals, teachers and social workers
- Child and parent Support groups, nationally and Internationally
