An exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term (2 year) position as a Senior Training Manager for the Central & South (C&S) Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH). Working under the direction of the GLH Education & Training Lead, the post holder will contribute to all aspects of education and training across the GLH.
The post holder will have experience of Healthcare Science education, training, & assessment within the laboratory setting. They will have proven leadership & educational experience to contribute to the strategic educational agenda in line with the NHSE vision for the National Genomic Medicine Service.They will also take day to day responsibility for the management of the GLH training team.
In partnership with the E&T Lead & key stakeholders, the post holder will understand both the baseline & projected workforce growth in the GLH workforce, develop education & training strategies to meet the developing needs of the workforce.
The position will be based at WMRGL within Birmingham Women's Hospital. WMRGL is closely aligned with the West Midlands Clinical Genetics Service & Midlands Integrated Reporting for Haemato-oncology (MIRHO, the local SIHMDS). We also work collaboratively with the Central & South Genomic Medicine Service Alliance (GMSA), the National School of Healthcare Science (NSHCS), University of Birmingham, in particular, the Institute of Cancer and Genomics Sciences, with other diagnostic & pharmaceutical industry partners.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Training Manager will contribute to the key deliverables of the Scientist Training Programme (STP) across all C&S laboratories.
The post holder will hold key line management responsibility for Birmingham based educational staff; together they will work collaboratively to monitor performance and help develop professional knowledge, skills, and practice of all staff.
The post holder will be based in Birmingham but will be required to spend a proportionate amount of time supporting each of the partner laboratories.
We welcome applications on a secondment basis (with current employer support) and will consider some element of remote working, though this opportunity does require a commitment to regular on-site attendance.
