Job summary
This is a full-time post in inpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Consultant to join our CAMHS In-patient service to work collaboratively with a professional, diverse, and highly skilled multi-disciplinary team at Parkview Inpatient unit, Birmingham. The successful candidate will have experience of working within an MDT setting, and support the delivery of specialist psychiatric input, psychiatric assessment and treatment under supervision. The Tier 4 Inpatient CAMHs Service forms part of the Mental Health Service Division at Birmingham Women's and Children's Hospital NHS Trust. The Trust also hosts the West Midlands Provider Collaborative who we are working with to develop our Tier 4 services. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving services we have recently opened a brand new state of the art 14 bedded GAU with the refurbishment of our 8 bedded unit due to be completed by the end of March 23. In addition we also provide a 12 bedded Specialist Eating Disorder unit.Main duties of the job
The clinical duties of the post holder will be to support the Tier 4 redesign and changing demands across the Tier 4 services. The successful candidate, together with the other Tier 4 Consultants, will provide a tertiary referral service for the assessment and treatment of adolescents suffering from psychiatric disorders that may as part of their management need treatment on an inpatient unit. The post holder will provide medical leadership and inpatient treatment for adolescents on inpatient unit working closely alongside the Medical Lead. They will also work closely with West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative.
The successful candidate will be able to work together with the other Consultants in the planning / development of the Tier 4 Inpatient Service provided by the Children's Hospital. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the development of safe policies and procedures alongside a staff group that is relatively new and to help to facilitate the development of a wide range of skills, knowledge and expertise to ensure the delivery of care on a multidisciplinary basis is of the highest standard.
The leadership team at the Parkview clinic meets with the Mental Health Service Senior Leadership Team regularly to discuss strategic and trust wide operational matters. The post holder will be expected to take part in delivery and development of clinical services within the Trust's Service and Financial Framework and in line with the Trust's clinical strategy.
