About Us:

We are developing a new psychologically minded, multi-disciplinary team that supports young people aged 13 -18 as part of the West Midlands CAMHS Provider Collaborative (WMCPC). The team includes psychology and nursing.

We work with other professionals involved with young people in Tier 4, who maybe escalating through the inpatient system due to misdirected care. We work systemically with these professional and family networks to consider how the young persons needs can be met in the community.

The Intensive Outreach Case Management Service (IOCMS) are looking for principal clinical psychologist to provide complex and clinically viable psychological perspectives to discharge planning for young people in tier 4 services. The IOCMS team are positioned to assist with the clinical pathways for those young people who are deemed to require increased levels of restriction to provide stability. Main duties of the job

Expert support for young people challenged by risk symptoms and behavior. Supporting or managing clinical care in partnership with other professionals, families, and carers and about recognising the need for, and promoting.

Research and data production within the context of the young people who are admitted to hospital whose risk increases and behavior deteriorates.

Working as an autonomous clinical leader with the ability to traverse inpatient MDT's and influence thinking. This is in the context of systemic barriers when the only option for inpatient teams requiring escalation in restrictions to manage risk

Wider assessment and formulation of individual needs in relation to establishing appropriate and alternate pathways to tier 4

Abstract and dynamic evidence based planning support and advice to services whose planning involves

Effective referral and coordination of safe and appropriate community pathways

Effective communication and advocacy for community pathways that may differ to MDTs views or recommendations

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical Psychology.
  • Significant Post-graduate level or above training and qualification in NHS leadership / management or equivalent leadership management experience
  • Registration with appropriate body (eg HCPC, ACP, BACP, AFT)
  • Evidence of post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice with particular focus on trauma and attachment

Knowledge & Nature of Experience

Essential

  • Significant recent experience of working with young people aged up to 25 with complex trauma and forensic presentations within the children in care system and community settings applying trauma informed approaches and models
  • Recent knowledge and practical experience of applying specialist models of psychological practice relevant to the specialty and setting
  • Experience of providing effective strategic leadership with a significant breadth of responsibility
  • Experience of delivering significant quality improvements and service development
  • Experience in developing research and development programmes within psychological therapy and specialist services
  • Experience in teaching and training of trainee and post-qualification psychological therapists, and of non-psychological staff
  • High level of effective practical and theoretical skill surrounding discharge pathways for young people who may have or display behaviors concurrent with the diagnosis of personality disorder
