Job summary
Applications are invited for a permanent Locum Consultant Orthodontist to join the West Midlands Cleft Lip and Palate Service.
Main duties of the job
- To work with speech therapy colleagues in the cleft team providing where appropriate dental plates for EPG treatment, palatal lifts and speech bulbs
- To provide clinical training and education for career junior staff, future specialists and trainee academics. To participate in continuing professional education programmes for all providers of orthodontic care which form the extended team in cleft care. The appointee will be expected to play a role in postgraduate medical education and the training of other staff groups. Close links with Birmingham Dental Hospital will be expected and encouraged to facilitate this.
- To lead and/or play an active part in departmental, regional, supra regional and national audit. To liaise with other providers of orthodontic care in audit projects. To foster a commitment to evidence based practice and meeting the standards of the National Service Specification. To work in collaborative research programmes as opportunities arise.
- Encouragement will be given to develop special interests which forward knowledge of the discipline or patient care.
