Locum Consultant Paediatric Surgeon
Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust
This job is now closed
Job summary
Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Paediatric Surgeon to join the Department of Paediatric Surgery and Urology at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
This is a locum post, following retirement, and includes both elective and on-call commitments. The successful applicant would ideally be able to commence clinical work on the 18th September 2023. The post will initially be for 2 months, with potential to be extended beyond this.
Main duties of the job
This is a 10 PA post, including both elective and on-call commitments.
This post will include providing elective and on-call commitments in Paediatric Surgery over a 7-week cycle. This is split into 5 weeks of purely "elective" commitments and a 2-week period of "emergency/on-call" provision. During the second of these two "on-call" weeks the post-holder will also provide a neonatal surgery outreach service at Birmingham Women's Hospital. This neonatal surgical outreach service is supported by specialist neonatal surgery outreach nurses and is a patient review service, with no surgery taking place at the Birmingham Women's Hospital. The job plan and commitments, for this post, is like the current working pattern of the substantive consultants in the department.
Although some elective commitments will be fixed the successful applicant will be allocated some theatre or clinic sessions that are being relet. Therefore, there will need to be flexibility around the exact activity each week.
The Department of Paediatric Surgery and Urology comprises of 7 consultant Paediatric Surgeons (Mr S Arul, Mr O Gee (Clinical Lead), Mr I Jester, Mr A Lander, Mr M Pachl, Mr M Singh and Mr G Soccorso) and 5 consultant Paediatric Urologists (Mr H Chandran, Mr L McCarthy, Mr A Robb, Miss R Wragg and Miss E Van der Merwe).
If you would like to discuss this post further, you are invited to contact Mr O Gee (Clinical Lead) - 0121 333 8947.
