We are looking for an experienced or trainee general paediatric advanced practitioner committed to developing our service within BWCH. The general paediatric population can span the whole trust, and cover patients admitted with complex medical conditions, requiring long-term ventilation and high dependency level care. BWCH itself caters for 35 specialties, many of which require ongoing high dependency care following discharge. We are also a designated paediatric major trauma centre seeing a variety of admissions through our paediatric emergency department.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will become a part of our dynamic general paediatric medical and nursing team, working clinically to provide outstanding care to our patients and their families. They will demonstrate competence in the four pillars of Advanced Practice: Leadership & Management, Education, Research & clinical practice. They will work with the nursing and medical teams to monitor and improve standards of care through the use of evidence-based practice, supervision, teaching and supporting colleagues. They will demonstrate skilled professional leadership, and be a role model of the highest calibre, whilst participating in clinical governance initiatives within the service by undertaking and participating in audit and research as part of the MDT, within their specialist field. Clinically, the Advanced Practitioner be competent to manage a caseload of patients on the medical rota, across the hospital site to provide expert identification, assessment, treatment and management of critically ill patients using complex clinical judgement & decision making, discretion and high-level communication If this sounds like the challenge you have been looking for, you will become a part of a supportive, motivated and passionate team of Advanced Practitioners.
