Applications are invited for a new Healthcare Science Practitioner role within the Birmingham Women's Fertility Centre at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a fantastic opportunity of a person wishing to enter a career in the reproductive sciences to get practical experience in a clinical environment, equally we are happy to receive applications from established scientists wishing to move to our team.
The role is based in our Laboratories team and will be focused on our male Fertility Preservation service in our Embryology cleanroom labs and also work within our diagnostic Andrology service. We aim for the Andrology service to be recognised Internationally for its work and so expect dedication and interest in this area.
Main duties of the job
The Fertility Centre has been providing exceptional care to couples and individuals experiencing fertility problems for over 40 years and is regionally, nationally and internationally recognised for its infertility care and research. We are an expert team employing a holistic approach to treatment. We are the only specialist fertility centre in the Midlands licensed to provide a full range of services from diagnosis of infertility to specialist fertility surgery, assisted conception treatment and have a nationally leading pre-implantation genetic diagnosis service.
The successful candidate will have a relevant scientific background, some additional knowledge around fertility/sperm and show a keen interest in our area. You will need to have good communication skills and be sensitive to the needs of fertility patients.
It is also essential that you can work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service.
