Forward Thinking Birmingham are seeking an
Occupational Therapist will skills of clinical leadership to lead on
Occupational Therapy interventions across the North, East of Birmingham and
provide input to the Specialist eating disorders pathway, based at Finch rd hub.
The
North Core hub provide holistic assessment and treatment of children, young
people and their families to support their mental health. You will lead a micro
team of junior OT and OT assistant to provide Occupational Therapy intervention
for children, young people and young adults.
The North Birmingham team is reflecting a full MDT; Psychiatrists,
Psychologists, Nurses, Support Workers, Peer support workers, Family
Therapists. You will have the opportunity to work with our children, young people
and families within their homes, schools, colleges; wherever there is a need
for meaningful intervention!
Main duties of the job
The SEDS team provide specialist assessment, intervention and evidence-based treatment for patients 0-25 with eating disorders in the community, alongside supporting their families/carers. The team also supports patients intensively in the community and in their own homes, to reduce inpatient admissions and facilitate safe early discharge. Alongside providing Occupational Therapy (OT) assessment and interventions, the SEDS OT will provide input towards the development of a range of low to moderate group interventions around symptom and self-management within the eating disorder community team alongside members of the MDT.
This role will allow the practice of advanced of Occupational Therapy skills; independent working, managing an Occupation Focused caseload, supporting the wider MDT through generic tasks such as initial assessments. You will be supported by an Head of Occupational Therapy for caseload supervision and line management.
We will be supporting our team to develop Occupational Formulations, Occupation focussed interventions, sensory pathways and strategies. Members of our team have been supported to developing core OT skills as well as additional specialist modalities such as DBT, Systemic training, BUSS, ADOS.
