Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Theatre department at Birmingham Children's Hospital. We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and experienced recovery nurse to join the vast growing team.

Theatres have a strong commitment to teaching and education, we can offer you an excellent mentorship and development programme, plus access to ongoing professional education. We welcome practitioners with adult PACU experience. You will be offered a 12-week supernumerary program with an extensive competency package to ensure you are fully supported whilst you develop your new skills within the paediatric settings

As leading tertiary centre the hospital performs a wide range of acute and specialised paediatric surgery, and has a busy Emergency Department managing 60,000 attendances/year and a 31 bed Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The hospital is a regional designated Trauma Centre and is proposing further service expansions. Main duties of the job

As the recovery nurse, you will cover a vast number of areas and specialties across the department and will be given ample opportunities to further develop your skills and knowledge to enhance the care our patients and their families receive.To provide safe, high quality Theatre Practitioner care for Paediatric Patients and their Families within the Operating Theatre Department

  • To provide safe, high quality theatre practitioner care - including the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of theatre practice for the specified patient groups.
  • Provide individualised care aligned to the physical, psychological and emotional needs of young people, children, babies and their families
  • Adherence to Trust Policies, LocSSIPs and NatSSIPs and local Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work effectively within the multidisciplinary teams at BCH
  • Attend service meetings, contributing positively and constructively to the running of the departments.
  • Actively contribute to the continuing development of the Theatre services, supporting the continual improvement programmes and strategies to enhance service safety and practice
