Job summary

The post holder will be employed by Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust and working within the Division of Mental Health Services which incorporates Forward Thinking Birmingham and Inpatient CAMHS services.

Main duties of the job

The Head of Nursing will provide nursing leadership and have professional responsibility for all nurses within mental health division & advise on issues relating to nursing including professional standards & nursing resources. Ensuring compliance with fundamental standards,developing nursing improvements in line with local,national guidance and BWC nursing strategy.

The post holders will ensure that nursing practice is of a high quality and is focused on the organisation values & upholds the profession. They will ensure that care is delivered with kindness, dignity and respect and there is provision of a skilled & person centred nursing service to service users, carers and families.

The post holders will provide clinical, strategic and professional support to the Associate Director of Nursing (ADN) & Deputy Chief Nurse for Mental Health Services. This incorporates the strategic planning delivery, leadership and management of the performance of the clinical group.

The post holders will have individual and specific corporate responsibilities aligned to the ADN portfolio where they will be expected to work across all clinical groups.

The post holder will contribute to the achievement of the clinical group and corporate objectives & the required local & national quality and governance standards by ensuring that all required audits, assessments and reviews are completed within the agreed timeframes that action plans are regularly monitored and integrated into clinical practice.
