An
exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic
individual to join the Liver Unit data management and research team. We are recruiting into a post to join the
existing team to manage the liver unit database, submission of activity to
NHSBT, international registries and participate in clinical research projects.
Main duties of the job
The
Liver Unit at Birmingham Childrens Hospital is one of three national
specialist units that provides medical, surgical care and transplantation for
children with liver and intestinal diseases looking after 2,000 children per
year performing around 35 -40 liver and intestinal transplants each year. The
Liver unit has an national and international reputation in delivering excellent
family centered care to the patients with results comparable or better than
national and international standards
The
posts will be a part of the 4-member team that co-ordinates and participates in
a number of clinical and commercially funded research projects. These include basic science projects looking
at the genetic and molecular causes of liver diseases; epidemiology studies;
and national and international clinical trials to determine safety and
efficiency of new therapies in children post-transplant,
cholestatic/non-cholestatic liver disease, and treatment of viral hepatitis.
