Job summary

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, motivated and experienced Band 6 Senior Staff Nurses to join the Private Patient Medical Day Unit (PPMDU)at the Royal Marsden in Chelsea. Intravenous cannulation and venepuncture are desirable, however full training will be given. In addition you will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service for our patients.The post holder will have excellent opportunities for professional and personal development in a well-resourced environment. Main duties of the job

The band 6 registered nurse for Private Patients' (PP) Outpatients is an exciting role, which enables the delivery of a variety of skills within the outpatient department, Granard House (GH) Outpatients and Markus Private Care Centre (PCC), and Infusion (Supportive Therapy) Unit. The main roles and responsibilities include:

To assume personal accountability for nursing care delivered to a patient in accordance with the NMC code of conduct. There is an expectation for post holders:

  • To promote a safe clinical environment for all patients, visitors and staff.
  • To participate in Trust initiatives around infection control and care quality indicators.
  • To assist with any local or Trust initiatives to ensure the continuous improvement of the quality of services and safeguarding of high standards of care.
  • To be aware of all hospital policies and procedures and collaborate with other health care professionals to ensure that these are observed.
  • To help foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive working environment and maintain staff morale.
  • To work and support staff in the Infusion Unit, Phlebotomy Room, Central Venous Access Device (CVAD) room, performing venepuncture, cannulation, and accessing PICC's and Portacaths.

Liaise effectively with members of the multi-disciplinary health care team to achieve a coordinated specialist service across all Trust sites.

To work as senior nurse resource for patients, families, and staff.
