Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Sister to join the team for Robert Tiffany Ward.

The ward consists of 13 rooms, and 2-day case surgical areas. We offer specialist facilities to provide excellent ongoing care of patients throughout their cancer journey. Full-time and Part-time working patterns will be considered.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Band 6 Staff Nurse have demonstrable previous Oncology experience and experience in the administration of IV medications and Systemic Anti-Cancer treatment.You will possess excellent communication skills, be reliable, enthusiastic and an effective team member committed to providing the highest level of service for our patients.The post holder will have excellent opportunities for professional and personal development in a well-resourced environment.

To coordinate and supervise a shift, communicating effectively with members of a multidisciplinary team including paediatric shared care services, community services and district nurses and general practitioners to deliver high quality, evidence-led care to patients.

Main duties of the job

1.1. To assist the ward manager of Robert Tiffany Ward in creating and maintaining a safe, therapeutic clinical environment for all patients and their families who come to the area. The post-holder will work with the ward manager to co-ordinate all functions and activities to ensure a smooth running service to patients and their families.1.2. To assist the ward manager in managing resources within the clinical area in a cost effective way. This includes maintaining and monitoring equipment and being proactive in managing staff rosters to minimise the use of temporary staffing1.3. To assist in providing strong proactive clinical leadership of the nursing and support workers thatis motivating, supportive and sets clear boundaries resulting in high quality safe patient care. The post-holder will deputise for the ward manager and co-ordinate the nursing teams by liaising with the senior staff nurses and clerical staff to ensure continuity of care for patients and on-going managerial support for staff.1.4. To work with the ward manager to provide a clinical learning environment that enables nursing staff to develop professionally and promotes the use of evidence in practice.
