Job summary

This 0.4 WTE Band 8b Lead Pharmacist: Oncology Sutton role is a one-year backfill (Thursday/Friday) during the current post holder's secondment to an RM Partners SACT project.

The position leads and supports the Oncology Pharmacy Team at Sutton & Kingston, ensuring high-quality clinical services for OCC & Kingston day units and NMP support to SACT clinics. It also contributes to developing the pharmacy workforce to recruit and retain top staff.Candidates should be enthusiastic, proactive, independent, decisive, and highly organised.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for the co-ordination, delivery and optimisation of clinical pharmacy Oncology services at the Sutton site. To include working alongside the Head of Clinical services and the other lead pharmacists to ensure process standardisation, pathways are streamlined and clinical pharmacy services are consistent across both sites.

Leading a team of highly skilled pharmacists, technicians and other pharmacy staff working to deliver cutting edge pharmacy services to Oncology patients.

Leading on the delivery of local, regional and national projects to optimise medication, improve services and outcomes for patients. The post holder will be responsible for implementation of these projects, through extensive stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

To lead on pharmaceutical issues relating to medicines optimisation and clinical trials within the existing Oncology Specialist pharmacist role, ensuring adherence to national guidelines and medicines legislation.

To provide highly specialised pharmaceutical advice and support relating to medicines use to senior medical and nursing staff of the designated specialist unit.

  • MSc/Diploma Pharmacy Practice

  • Experience of working in oncology pharmacy
  • Financial forecasting and managing drug expenditure to include contribution to delivering cost improvement programmes
  • Experience of contributing to the delivery of medication governance and medication safety
  • Experience delivering education and training, and providing supervision to support the development of multidisciplinary team
  • Recent (in last 2 years) evidence of delivering efficiencies in the NHS
