We support clinical placements from two education providers, and support three radiotherapy training programmes as well as developing and supporting postgraduate level programmes.We are seeking an enthusiastic radiotherapy radiographer to work at both our hospital sites in Sutton and Chelsea. This is an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking, creative individual who will be instrumental in continuing to develop and support innovative radiotherapy education at the trust. You will be working with education providers, students, friendly teams of radiographers, clinicians and physicists all dedicated to improving radiotherapy planning and treatment techniques. There is the additional opportunity to participate in the delivery of formal teaching for our education providers, as well as being part of the many in-house educational programmes delivered by the trust.
You will be required to perform duties which will include tutorial support, schedule planning, placement development, teaching, administration, staff mentoring, assessor support and training, and the pastoral care of students within the department. In addition you will maintain your practice as a radiographer working with highly sophisticated image guided and paediatric radiotherapy techniques at one of Europe's leading cancer centres.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be responsible for assisting in the coordination and provision of the clinical education component for pre-registration radiotherapy students on placement at the Royal Marsden. The post holder will also have the opportunity to teach at the partner University sites. This role also requires the post holder to host visitors to the radiotherapy department and to provide them with appropriate information and supervision according to their needs.
When working as a Senior I clinical practitioner they will be responsible for the radiotherapy processes at and the operational management of a specialist highly complex radiotherapy work base, which may be a treatment unit, a CT scanner, or a treatment preparation area. They will supervise the immediate radiographic team including students, aides and visitors on a rotational basis, ensuring that the practise of all results in the radiotherapy processes at their work base being performed accurately as prescribed.
