Job summary
The Anaesthetic Department sits under the Clinical Business Unit for Surgery and Inpatients. The department is supported by a Clinical Director for Surgery and Inpatients, Divisional Medical Director, Nursing Lead and General Manager as well as Clinical Leads of Service. Office space and appropriate IT equipment will be provided. The post holder will have direct access to the administrative support team based within the Anaesthetic department. In addition, the Admissions and Pre-assessment Unit (APU) team provide full administrative and secretarial support for clinical work performed within this unit. The department also supports study leave and professional leave in line with the Royal College of Anaesthetists recommendations. The department provides support for audit, research and service development.
Main duties of the job
- The appointee will be expected to work flexibly to support the department in delivering exceptional care to adult patients undergoing a wide range of procedures at both the Chelsea and Sutton sites (including the Oak Cancer Centre), in line with established guidelines and policies. This may include job planned weekend operating lists in the future
- This post includes an on-call commitment of 1:18
- This job will include up to 2.5 programmed activities of protected research time. The candidate will be expected to have completed a Higher degree with post-doc research experience

- CCT (or equivalent) in Anaesthesia (or be eligible for specialist registration within six months of interview)
- Higher degree with post-doc research experience PhD required

- Experience in a tertiary centre with an oncological workload for minimum 6 months within Stage 3 of anaesthesia training
