Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Teenage & Young Adult (TYA) Team at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust and play a pivotal role in the on-going commitment to promote and enhance the quality of holistic supportive care provided to all our TYA patients. This will be a cross-site role with the postholder based on the TYA Unit at the Royal Marsden Sutton but providing an outreach service to the Fulham Road branch of the Royal Marsden, as required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a team dedicated to improving the care and overall patient experience of Teenagers and Young Adults (TYA) with cancer. Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with The Royal Marsden site-specific teams and Teenage and Young Adult (TYA) Multidisciplinary Teams (MDT) to develop, implement and evaluate existing specialist services, ensuring young people receive the highest standard of clinical care with equity of service provision across sites at the Royal Marsden where TYAs receive their oncology care. Whilst the patient's site-specific Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will remain responsible for oversight of their treatment pathway, the TYA CNS will provide an essential role in supporting the team to meet the holistic needs of the TYA as a young person as they navigate through the challenges of adolescence into adulthood, whilst also having a cancer diagnosis.
As a nursing expert, the post holder will demonstrate a high level of expertise caring for TYAs (16-24 years) and be a resource of specialist knowledge across the patient pathway, providing advice, education and support to staff, patients their families and carers. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the TYA Lead Nurse to contribute to ongoing development of clinical practice, and standards of care within the TYA service including the development of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
