Job summary
We are looking for a Scientific Research Administrator to work in the Royal Marsden Clinical Genomics team, providing high-level administrative and operational support. The post-holder will work with a highly experienced team of scientists to monitor project activity, analyse and report on grant applications and projects, be in charge of website updates, and support the management of research-related finances. The work will take place in the Clinical Genomics Translational Research Laboratory at The BRC Centre for Molecular Pathology at The Royal Marsden NHS FT and The Institute of Cancer Research in Sutton.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic team of research scientists focused on innovation and quality of service. The goal is to develop and apply the most reliable and comprehensive genomic diagnostics to enable accurate clinical decisions that directly benefit patients at the Royal Marsden, in the North Thames region and nationally. The work takes place in the Clinical Genomics Translational The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust
Research Laboratory at The Centre for Molecular Pathology. The team has a joint role both at The Royal Marsden NHS FT and The Institute of Cancer Research in Sutton
Our aim is for the Clinical Genomics Translational Unit to establish a wide range clinical Commercial Studies and RMH and ICR led academic studies. This will include both local and multicentre clinical trials where the unit contributes genomic expertise.
The post holder will coordinate various aspects of research support including monitoring, analysis and reporting on grant applications, website updates, and supporting the management of research-related finances. They will have experience of providing high-level administrative and operational support whilst managing your own workload and demonstrating strong organisational skills. They'll also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to use your initiative to handle and solve problems efficiently and professionally.

Attend meetings with outside organizations, including academic and commercial partners, to support/advise when facilitating genomic testing for clinical trials.
Support the research managers on RM sponsored and hosted trials to facilitate testing, data management, monitoring, safety, audit and regulatory inspection.
Coordination of all aspects of research and innovation support, including support to the Scientific Director , ensuring that funding deadlines are clearly communicated, and internal processes areadhered to.
Support operations by managing the administrative activities of the translational research unit across both RMH and ICR.
Support the management and oversight of the finances and budget of the research unit, tracking income generation to ensure the sustainability and development of the team.
Maintain records of all genomics projects in the team, including laboratory testing for research and clinical trials.
Monitor quality of service and compliance with legal requirements, including assisting in the completion and maintenance of documentation (eg work agreements, MTAs CDAs etc).
Coordinate, or help coordinate, administrative tasks including, but not limited to: budget management; recruitment; Quality inspections and quality programmes; ordering reagents, maintaining training records and equipment management.;
Helping organise scientific training programmes for STP students and work experience visitors. Coordinate lab visits from external parties.
Represent the unit at wider RMH administrative meetings, ensuring that the team is aware of developments in policy and its application across the wider RMH.
Liaise with colleagues in similar roles in other units at RMH to promote joint-working, sharing of knowledge, expertise and support, and to realise synergies.
